Hi Guys. I am E. Richards and this is my blog. I guess you figured that out.
Writing is my passion. Yeah, that’s it. Okay, so I might not be very good at a lot of things, like sports for instance. Never quite figured out how to throw a ball and always found myself hiding in the bushes during physical education class, but at least as a fiction author I hope I can entertain with words (as long as I am not talking about myself). In person, I pretty much feel misunderstood, so I spend a lot of time in my imagination creating fantasies, writing, or reading. In those realms I can escape into the worlds of the characters.
As a kid I mostly daydreamed my way through school, but literature class was the one place I actually paid attention and even participated. So I took many, many creative writing classes, worked on the staff of a literary magazine, and started writing and publishing my fiction novels. I’ve been writing novels for many years under various pen names trying to find my groove. I’ve had some surprising successes and some failures. It’s been quite a journey with some joy, some heart wrenching blows, and a lot of the time wanting to pull my hair out. Maybe it’s idiotic, but I keep coming back. Maybe I saw too many Rocky movies and just can’t give up the dream/fight.
Science fiction has always been my favorite genre, but as a writer it has always intimidated me. I never felt worthy. But I’ve had a shockingly weird life. Everything seems to lead me in the direction of writing in this genre, so I don’t feel I have a choice.
With that said, right now I am writing a new science fiction series called Mars that we are publishing as episodes. In some ways it’s a little Star Wars inspired with robots, flying saucers, outer space and has my own intense hatred of government corruption, demented crossbreeds, and mind control methods. I have a simple writing style with unusual and deep concepts lurking beneath the surface. Overly intellectual, showy authorship turns me off. I like to keep it real.
Well, if you made it this far, thanks so much for reading my thoughts. I look forward to reading your blogs.
